Critical Equipment Cleaning Schedule

October 9, 2015 Written by JohnTech

When most people think of a scheduled cleaning, the first thing that pops into their head is going to the dentist. But guess what, for your business’ data center, a regular scheduled cleaning is just as important. According to Johnston Technologies, Middle Tennessee’s specialists in data center infrastructure for over 26 years, just as having your teeth cleaned regularly promotes a healthy mouth, regular maintenance and cleaning of your data center will prolong the life of your expensive, yet critical, equipment.

As you may know, Johnston Technologies is well known for their stellar customer service when it comes to helping their customers figure out what UPSs, racks, cooling systems, flooring, monitoring systems, etc that would best suit their needs, but what you may not know is that the customer service does not stop there.

Johnston Technologies will not sell you a product and then leave you high and dry to figure it out how to maintain it. They offer service contracts with each purchase to promote the life and integrity of your data center. (Seriously, you probably spent a pretty penny getting this all set up, wouldn’t you like to keep it running in tip top shape? Yeah, I thought so.)

With a Johnston Technologies service contract, you can depend on one of their trained technicians (with decades of combined experience I might add) to keep your critical equipment up and running to its fullest potential.

So how do their trained professionals do this? By performing actions you don’t want to do. You know how when you need to vacuum, you do it real quick but not detailed…you probably forget about the dust bunnies under the bed because you don’t see them…the cobwebs in between the kitchen counter and the fridge, you might get them next time. You know what I’m talking about, admit it.

Johnston Technologies does not leave it to next time. When they come into your data center for its scheduled cleaning, they do it all and they do it using a HEPA vacuum because it prevents the re-circulation of particles in your data center’s environment. Here is a list of a few of the details Johnston Technologies pays close attention to while cleaning:

  • Vacuum floor surface, including under all cabinets and equipment (dust bunnies should be afraid…very afraid).

  • Clean floor tile surface and edges.

  • Clean all hand prints and dust off the cabinets using a damp wipe.

  • To thoroughly vacuum the plenum with the HEPA vacuum, all cables are gently lifted and shifted.

  • Underfloor plenum is thoroughly hand wiped down.

  • Hand pick trash and wire cuttings from the underfloor plenum.

  • After vacuumed and cleaned, the underfloor plenum is inspected for contraband, penetrations, loose wiring and water/fire detectors. The findings are then reported.

  • Adjust floor-leveling understructure as required.

After all the cleaning and adjusting is finished, a written report is provided to your company consisting of observations keyed to specific locations on the floor layout.

It’s okay, you can admit it, Johnston Technologies’ trained technicians will do a way more thorough cleaning job in your data center than you ever would. That is why you need to call Johnston technologies today. Scheduling regular cleanings for your data center will ensure that your expensive critical equipment will keep running at its maximum potential as well as have a longer life. You know what they say, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”
