Social Madness Aftermath

On Tuesday of last week, Johnston Technologies was eliminated from the Social Madness Competition. As sad as we were to leave the competition, we gained valuable relationships and experience that will last us for years to come. One such relationship was our partnership with Raise the Roof, Inc. With their help, we were able to win the local Nashville small bracket!

Winning the Nashville small bracket exceeded our original goals for the competition and with that, helped us gain more publicity for Raise the Roof than we were expecting. We only hope that this publicity will help raise awareness for Raise the Roof and increase donations to their terrific organization.

To say we had fun during this competition, is an understatement. The Twitter chats and Google+ hangouts that we participated in were not only helpful and informative but also enjoyable as we had not previously participated in these forms of online communications. Learning from other companies, that were also competing, helped us navigate our way through the local competition and into Nationals.

For their support and dedication, we would like to thank Timmermann Group, SEEKCareers/Staffing, Prompt Boston, ScriptiLabs, KnowledgeLake, The DAVIS Companies, Woople and many more for their efforts.

By the Numbers

Our social media presence continued to grow throughout the competition and the results were better than expected.   Our Facebook page alone gained an additional 137 likes over the course of about 2 months. (That is a 556% increase from when we started!)

The peak of our success came by way of reaching 1,177 people by a single Facebook post!  We saw roughly a 100% increase in Twitter and LinkedIn followers as well but our real project was starting a Google+ page from scratch.  Our Google+ page ended the competition with 56 +1’s and 14 followers.  Not a bad start!

Our website traffic has seen a significant increase as well.  During the two months we were in Social Madness, we averaged 65% more traffic than the average of the year earlier.

We thank all of our customers, friends, family and partners for their support for us during the competition.  We hope this exposure furthers our social media presence as we continue to build what this competition has helped us begin.
