Money Saving Battery Monitoring

We’ve all had this problem; you look down at your watch, only to discover the battery is dead. Big deal; you change the battery and go on. But what if there is a power outage at your business and the UPS doesn’t kick on to keep your critical equipment running because it’s batteries are dead. Now this IS a big deal.
With Johnston Technologies’ Cellwatch Battery Monitoring, your batteries are monitored daily, assuring your UPS will work when you need it to. In return, your business saves money by eliminating expensive downtime. Battery monitoring also saves you money because when one battery dies, the other batteries work harder to compensate for the failed battery, affecting their battery life as well. By knowing right away when a battery is dying, it can be replaced before the other batteries are affected, which could cost a great deal more.
I know what you are thinking, “When we bought our UPS from Johnston Technologies, it came with a maintenance contract which included semiannual battery testing as part of the Preventative Maintenance (PMs) visits.” But what you may not realize is that batteries can die without notice in as little as a couple weeks to just two days. So if you are having your batteries checked just twice a year, that leaves a lot of time for your batteries to fail without notice.
It’s a known fact that over 75% of unplanned power outages can be attributed to battery failure. By installing a Cellwatch Battery Monitoring system, you can prolong your batteries lives, improve your UPS uptime, and of course, save money. Actually, since you are monitoring your batteries daily with your Cellwatch system, you can reduce the expense of purchasing costly PM (Preventative Maintenance) visits.
So how does this all work?
An easy to assemble or disassemble single Data Collection Module is attached to each battery’s terminal (usually a row of 2-4).
The Data Collection Modules are then connected to a Control Unit, which sends the data collected to a Cellwatch Battery Monitoring Unit.
The Battery Monitoring Unit then organizes the data into easy to read history charts and live individual battery cell reading.
Sounds pretty simple, doesn’t it? That’s because the Cellwatch brand has been around since 1987 and is considered to be the pioneer of battery monitoring around the globe.
They have perfected the art of preventing unplanned outages on critical power backup systems. This is why Johnston Technologies sells this brand, because they too believe that Downtime is NOT an Option.
Well, the ball is in your corner now. You can continue with your PMs, and risk battery failure during the in between times OR you can save yourself a big headache and a lot of money by having Johnston Technologies provide you with a Cellwatch Battery Monitoring system. It’s up to you, but I know what I would do.
